The Annual Peace Festival is a vibrant, multi-day summit bringing together thousands of young people from schools across the region. Delegates engage in transformative programming on peacebuilding, climate action, GBV prevention, SRHR, menstrual equity, mental health, and drug abuse prevention, integrating creative expression, civic education, technology, and hands-on community engagement.

Schools arrive as delegations and leave as Peace Clubs. The festival is designed so that what happens over two days continues in the school term that follows.

The Experience

What participants experience

Two days built around performance, practical skills, and youth-led ideas.

Creative performances (music, dance, drama, poetry) addressing real youth challenges, 5 to 10 minutes per school
Workshops and sessions by international speakers and facilitators from across the world
Hands-on skills training: book making, liquid soap making, sanitary pad making, charcoal briquette making, introduction to AI
Innovation Showcase: youth-led school and community projects competing for sponsorship and implementation support
Video Challenge: schools submit a peace-themed video, and the best wins
Tree Planting: each school contributes to a lasting climate action legacy
Intercultural learning, games, and peer capacity building sessions

Annual Objectives

Objectives and expected outcomes

Equip 3,000 youth with practical peacebuilding, leadership, and conflict resolution skills
Train and equip 40 school patrons and head teachers to act as community multipliers and immediate youth support systems in their schools
Equip youth with practical, income-generating skills including liquid soap making, sanitary pad making, book making, and waste management and recycling for self-reliance and lasting community impact
Donate 1,000 sanitary pads and increase awareness of and access to critical health, SRHR, and social services
Support and showcase 10 youth-led innovations and community solutions solving real problems
Foster multi-stakeholder partnerships across government, civil society, and the private sector
Amplify youth voices for collective community action and policy influence
Plant 3,000 trees and distribute 20 dustbins as a tangible climate action legacy

Climate Legacy

Every school plants, every year

Tree planting closes each edition of the festival. Every school delegation contributes, and the seedlings stay in the communities that host them. It is the part of the programme that keeps growing after everyone goes home.

Alongside planting, delegates take part in waste management and recycling sessions, and schools receive dustbins to carry the practice back into daily school life.
